Throughout 2015 our client’s monthly investment reports continue to showcase examples of outstanding creativity and innovation.
This year, the focus will be on 3D Printing. It is a subject that has cropped up in our investment articles with increasing frequency; particularly within the past two years. Once regarded as a passing trend, 3D Printing is now one of the most innovative and exciting technologies of the 21st Century. Our latest design series will highlight some of the projects that could literally reshape the world in which we live.
3D Printing technologies are currently being explored across the globe in almost every field of art, science and technology. Accordingly, our client reporting will feature outstanding international projects underway in areas as diverse as fashion, architecture, medicine and aerospace engineering.
Although most 3D Printing technologies are developed for professional and commercial benefit, they are also being adapted and shared for the greater good. Thanks to the internet and the ‘Open Source’ nature of 3D software and printing technology, game-changing ideas and inventions are just as likely to come from enthusiastic amateurs and online 3D communities as they are from 3D Printing experts.
We launch the series with 3D Print Canal House, an Amsterdam-based project that illustrates how 3D Printing is changing the face of the construction industry. If the concept of 3D Printing a full-size house sounds like something from a science fiction novel, then think again. Just two weeks ago, as this article was being written, it was announced that a Shanghai-based company has now achieved this by printing a full-size villa and 5-storey residential building. Which gives some idea of the speed with which this technology is developing.
